Technical Data

Truck/Container Monitoring System for Radioactivity TR1021 offered by Nucleonix Systems Pvt. Ltd. has been specifically designed to Monitor Radioactivity / Contamination present in a moving vehicle (truck/container) loaded with steel scrap material / finished products.
This system is essential in steel industry & also in large foundries to monitor incoming scrap & also to monitor outgoing finished product at entry & exit gates for Radioactive Contamination. Also this system is useful for inspection by homeland security agencies of cargo carrying truck/container at international borders, sea ports & air cargo complexes to inspect consignments for clandestine (illegal) transportation of nuclear materials.
This system is offered in various configurations depending upon sensitivity and other customer specific requirements like size of vehicle, monitoring time, safety/security criteria. Our design uses large volume PVT detectors coupled to highly sensitive PMTs. The geometry of the detectors is so designed such that various types of light and heavy commercial vehicles could be monitored for radioactivity.

Specifications

(B) Alarms Unit :

This unit basically consists of advanced electronic circuits to receive the signals from the detector channels and acquire the data into counters. This is basically a microcontroller based unit with VFT display to showup the current counts / dose rate. Alarms status is indicated by visual cluster LED array. In addition RED, LED dome lamp/Xenon flasher is also provided to give flashing display under active condition

(Processing & Display Electronics):

Display : 16x2 VFD display (can be expanded if customer requires additional channels)

User Interface : Password protected front panel keypad

Measurement unit : nSv/h or mR/h or CPS

Measurement Range:
1 nSv/hr to 1000nSv/h
For each detector or (above natural background level) 0.1uR/h to 100uR/h or 100 CPS to 100 K CPS

Settable alarm range:
10nSv/h to 1000nSv/h For each detector Or 1uR/h to 100uR/h

No. of Alarm levels: 2
Level 1 can be set upto 3 times BG level or as recommended by Atomic Energy regulatory authority
Level 2 for indicating high level of radioactive contamination (this could be 2-3 times of level 1 or as required)



Relay contacts :
Independent Relay contacts have been provided for below conditions
(a) CLEAN for turnstile control:
GREEN Cluster LED array
(b) CONTAMINATED:
a) RED Cluster LED array &
b) RED LED Dome Lamp by additional
(c) HARDWARE FAILURE and
(d) VEHICLE PRESENCE

Alarm Indication
(a) Audio:
Loud alternating tone from hooter in the event of alarm
or / RED dome LED lamp
(b) Visual :
Red Xenon flasher generates light flash/o/p in the event of Radioactivity levels exceed threshold

Self Test Facility :
Built-in self test feature allows complete diagnostics for detecting LV, HV and detector failures

Computer Software & PC Interface :

i. Software Features :
Advanced computer software program gives approximate location of the radioactive contamination. If detected PC records radioactivity map of the vehicle.

Total integral activity per tonne report could be calculated and generated. Additional parameters like truck number, weight of scrape, driver name and other consignment details can be entered in the report. This can be tailor-made as per user requirements.

The PC also emulates method alarm status on the panel along with final data.
